چکیده

Osteoblastoma is an uncommon benign bone-form ing tumor originally described in 1932 by Jaffe and Mayer [1]. it presents c linically with unusually severe pain that mayor may not respond to mild analges ics such as aspi rin . The radiographic appearance of osteoblastoma is often considerably varied, but , in most cases, it is an expanding lytic bone lesion that is usually well circu mscribed even when it has attenuated and expanded the cortex [2 , 3]. Some degree of calcification may be present [2,3]. It is usually more than 1.5 cm in diameter. It has been described in almost all of the bones of the body, but the vertebral co lumn is the most common location of this tumor and it usually involves the appendages [2-5]. Its differenti al diagnostic possib ili ties include osteoid osteoma, aneurysmal bone cyst, osteosarcoma, and giant cell tumor. It bears a close similarity to osteoid osteoma clin ically, histologically [2, 4], and ul trastructurally [6]. Radiographic presentation is the most useful means of differentiating between these two entities [2, 4]. The purpose of this communication is to report on the findings and usefu lness of computed tomography (CT) metrizamide myelography in four patients with spinal osteoblastoma.

Morphology and dimensions of the thoracic cord by computer-assisted metrizamide myelography.

Computed tomographic (CT) measurements of the thoracic spine and its contents were obtained in 33 patients undergoing metrizamide myelography for various spinal disorders. Twenty-eight of these patients had symptoms referable to the cervical or lumbar region and form the basis of this study. Five patients had symptoms referable to the thoracic spine. Sagittal and coronal CT measurements of the ...

Diastematomyelia in children: metrizamide and CT metrizamide myelography.

Diastematomyelia is an uncommon dysraphic lesion of the spine which has been diagnosed more frequently since the advent of newer diagnostic methods. A series of 21 cases was examined using metrizamide myelography and computed tomographic metrizamide myelography (CTMM) over a 3-year period. These examinations, in addition to plain radiographs of the spine, have demonstrated certain features of d...

Assessment of craniocervical junction and atlantoaxial relation using metrizamide-enhanced CT in flexion and extension.

Metrizamide-enhanced computed tomographic (CT) myelography has made it easier to define the relation of the spinal cord to the vertebral canal. A flexion-extension metrizamide-enhanced CT technique has been developed to study the craniocervical junction that refines evaluation of the relation between the spinal cord and the foramen magnum, atlas, and axis. This technique was used to study 15 ad...

Metrizamide CT myelography in cervical myelopathy and radiculopathy: correlation with conventional myelography and surgical findings.

Conventional myelography, metrizamide computed tomographic (CT) myelography, and surgical findings were correlated in 30 patients with cervical radiculopathy and/or myelopathy. In 60% of patients, metrizamide CT myelography provided significant additional information including better characterization of the abnormality, lateralization if the conventional myelogram was indeterminate, more defini...

Demonstration of diastematomyelia and associated abnormalities with MR imaging.

Three patients were studied with a 0.3 T superconducting magnet to assess the role of magnetic resonance (MR) imaging in the recognition and evaluation of diastematomyelia and associated abnormalities. Comparison was made with other imaging techniques, including metrizamide computed tomographic (CT) myelography. With MR imaging, the divided spinal cord was well imaged in its entire craniocaudal...
